Pricing Questions

Pricing causes more confusion than any blockage itself, so these answers spell out how the money side works before you call.

What decides the price of clearing a blocked drain?

How deep the pipe runs, how easily it can be reached, what it is made from and what caused the blockage all shape the figure. You see the full amount in writing before any work starts.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. The job is quoted as one figure before anything begins, so a stubborn blockage that takes longer does not cost you more while the plumber works. There is no hourly rate guesswork on your invoice.

How do I pay once the job is done?

You pay by card or EFTPOS on the day, once the drain has been tested and you have seen the water running freely. There is nothing extra to settle afterwards.

Can the price change after work starts?

It cannot. The figure you agree to covers the job as described, so there is nothing to renegotiate halfway through. If a camera inspection shows something genuinely different from what anyone could see from outside, we stop, explain and re-quote before touching anything.

Local Drain Questions

Fitzgibbon is a small triangle of low land between the railway, Cabbage Tree Creek and Telegraph Road, and that geography shapes which drains block and why.

Call (07) 3067 4107

Why do drains here block more after summer storms?

The suburb averages 1064mm of rain each year, with the wet months running from November through March, and it sits low and flat beside Cabbage Tree Creek. Stormwater lines here have barely any slope, so pits fill quickly and shove debris into house drains.

Does the ground the estates were built on affect pipes?

Yes. Parts of the triangle were a council tip until 1995, and soft clay and old fill sink at uneven rates, which opens pipe joints. That movement is why some lines block again and again until the joint is repaired.

Why would homes on the same street have the same blockage?

The estates went up in one build-out, so identical fittings turn up from house to house. A weak batch of pan connectors or joints shows itself on several properties in the same street within a season or two.

Do the restaurants near the shops cause sewer trouble?

The short strip on Roghan Road packs a bakery and several restaurants into one stretch, and their grease enters sewers shared with the homes around them. Jet blasting scours that coating away, so shared lines run at full bore again.

What should never go down a toilet or sink?

Wipes, paper towel, cooking oil, coffee grounds and hair are the usual offenders. Even wipes sold as flushable do not break down like toilet paper, and on low ground with little fall they catch on the first narrowing and start a blockage.

Which pipes am I responsible for?

Your responsibility runs from the fixtures inside the house to where your pipe meets the street system, which Urban Utilities owns beyond that point. We clear and repair your side, and if the blockage sits in the main we tell you straight away.

Booking Questions

Getting a plumber out is simple, and these answers cover what happens once you ring.

Call (07) 3067 4107

Can you come the same day?

Usually, yes. A morning call usually gets one of our plumbers out to your drain the same day, since our regular run covers Fitzgibbon here plus its five neighbouring suburbs. We will always tell you honestly what the earliest visit looks like.

Which areas do you cover?

Fitzgibbon itself plus Bracken Ridge, Deagon, Taigum, Zillmere and Carseldine, all next door, with the wider Brisbane northside and Moreton Bay beyond. Being locally owned and operated means the same plumbers work these suburbs week in and week out.

What should I have ready when I book?

Know which fixtures are slow, gurgling or overflowing, and where the water appears, whether that is a shower, a floor waste or the outside gully. That detail helps the plumber arrive with the right approach and quote the job sooner.

How do I book a drain visit?

Ring (07) 3067 4107 and tell us which drain is misbehaving. You agree the figure before anything starts, and same-day visits happen where we can. Card or EFTPOS payment on the day wraps the job up neatly.
